One number
Your longest stretch today without opening a feed. Not the hours you lost — the time you kept.
One number. You want it bigger.
Your phone counts the hours you lost. UNBROKEN measures the opposite: your longest stretch of the day without opening a feed, raised as a 3D day you can spin.
UNBROKEN is an Android app that measures your longest stretch of the day without opening a feed, instead of how many hours you spent on your phone. You choose which apps count as a feed; everything else you do on your phone is left alone. Today is drawn as a 3D crown on a 24-hour dial, where each wall is a stretch exactly as tall as it was long, and your record is a landscape with every day as a ridge. A home-screen widget keeps today’s figure in view. It is made by Night Jar Studios, has no account and no ads, and your record never leaves your phone.
Your phone already tells you how many hours you spent on it. It has been telling you every week for years. Hours is a number you are supposed to make smaller, and numbers like that are easy to stop looking at. UNBROKEN measures the opposite thing: your longest unbroken stretch, how long you went without opening a feed. It is a number you want to make bigger — a personal best, not a scolding.
You choose which apps count as a feed. Everything else is left alone, so messages, maps, calls and work never break a stretch. Only a feed session does, and a glance of under a minute does not count.
Today stands on a 24-hour dial as a crown. A wall rises for as long as you stay out of the feed and falls to the floor the moment you open one, where the session glows amber, so the tallest wall is your longest stretch and exactly as tall as it was long. When you open the app a hand sweeps the day and the figure counts up to the true number. Spin the crown to read any moment of the day.
Your record is a landscape. Every day stands as a ridge, today in front. Tap one to read it, or hold one moment of the day against every day and a habit shows up as a valley running back through time. A daily total cannot tell forty short sessions from three long ones; the landscape can, and a flat view sits beside it. A home-screen widget keeps today’s longest stretch in view without opening anything.
There are no targets, no streaks, no badges and no notifications, and nothing turns red. UNBROKEN reports what happened and stops there. It measures time free of the feed, not time spent working: your phone cannot see you at a desk, and the app will not pretend it can.
There is no account and no server, and your record never leaves your phone. Today’s crown, the last seven days in the landscape and every measure are free. One optional payment unlocks every day you have recorded and the trend — week by week, whether your longest stretches are lengthening. There is no subscription.

Questions & answers
UNBROKEN measures the longest stretch of your day during which you did not open a feed — one of the apps you chose, such as a short-video or photo feed. It does this inside a waking window you set, so sleep does not count as a stretch. It also shows how many stretches your day broke into, your feed sessions, and when you first reached for a feed. It measures time free of the feed, not time spent working.
Screen time totals the hours you spent on your phone, and it is a number you are meant to make smaller. UNBROKEN measures the longest run without a feed, which you want to make bigger, and it only counts the apps you choose: using your phone for messages, maps or work does not break a stretch. It also shows the shape of each day rather than a single total.
The crown is how UNBROKEN draws today: a 24-hour dial raised in 3D. A wall rises for as long as you stay out of the feed and drops to the floor when you open one, so each wall is a stretch exactly as tall as it was long and the tallest wall is your longest stretch. Feed sessions glow amber at the foot of the walls. You can spin the crown past a pointer to read any moment, such as how many minutes you had been out of the feed at 14:20.
The landscape shows your record with every day as a ridge, today in front, drawn on the same measure as the crown. Tapping a ridge reads that day’s longest stretch and feed sessions. Dragging across it holds one clock time against every day, for example how many days you were in the feed at 21:30, so a habit shows up as a valley running back through the days. An overhead view flattens the ridges for side-by-side comparison.
No. UNBROKEN does not block anything, set targets, keep streaks or send notifications. It reports what happened and leaves the conclusion to you.
Usage Access lets the app see which app was in front of the screen and when, which is the only way to measure a stretch without a feed. You grant it yourself in Android Settings and can turn it off at any time. It does not let UNBROKEN see your screen, your messages or anything inside other apps, and UNBROKEN does not use an Accessibility Service.
Yes. UNBROKEN has no account and no server, and your usage record is stored only on your phone and never uploaded. The app contacts Google Play for three things only: whether you have bought the optional unlock, whether a newer version of the app exists, and — once, after about two weeks — to show Play’s own review card. None of them carries anything from your record. You can export or delete your whole record at any time from Settings, whether or not you have paid.
UNBROKEN is free to install. Today’s crown, the last seven days in the landscape, every measure and the home-screen widget are free. One optional one-time payment unlocks every day you have recorded and the week-by-week trend. There is no subscription.
No. UNBROKEN is Android only, because iOS does not allow an app to see which app was in front of the screen and when, which the measurement depends on.
UNBROKEN is in closed testing on Google Play, which means a group of invited testers is using it before its public release. It will be listed on Google Play for everyone after the test.
UNBROKEN measures your longest stretch without a feed, not screen-time hours. Your day rises as a 3D crown, and your record never leaves your phone.
