What is Gadapa?

Someone in your family is doing most of the caring, usually quietly, usually without anyone noticing how much it adds up to. Gadapa is a record of that work. One tap when you give the medicine, cook the meal, take them to the doctor, or simply sit with them a while — it takes under five seconds and asks nothing else of you.

Over a month those taps become a pattern: a muggu, the dot design someone sweeps onto a Telugu doorstep before dawn every day without being asked. Everyone in the family can see the shape of it, which is the point. Care rarely breaks down because information is missing. It breaks down because the work is invisible, and invisible work is unshared work.

Gadapa will never rank your family. There are no scores, no streaks and no leaderboard, because turning care into a competition makes a hard situation worse. It shows what was done and who did it, and stops there.

The Handover sheet — conditions, allergies, blood group, current medicines, doctor, insurance, emergency contacts — is free forever, works offline and needs no account. We will not put a subscription between a family and what a hospital asks for at 2am.

Questions & answers

Gadapa: common questions

What does Gadapa do?

Gadapa is a shared record of who is looking after an ageing parent. You tap once to log a moment of care — giving medicine, cooking, a doctor visit, a phone call — and it is saved with the time and your name. You can keep a list of medicines with reminders, track appointments with a shared list of questions to ask, and maintain an emergency handover sheet. Over a month the logged days form a pattern the whole family can see.

What does the name Gadapa mean?

గడప (gadapa) is the Telugu word for the threshold of a home — the doorstep someone sweeps before dawn and marks with a muggu, a design of dots drawn in rice flour. It is daily, humble work done for the household without being asked, which is exactly what the app is about.

Does Gadapa track who does more of the work?

It shows what was done and who did it, but it never ranks anyone. There are no scores, streaks or leaderboards, and no notification will ever tell a family member they are falling behind. Research on sibling conflict finds that tension is driven by people having different pictures of the situation rather than by unequal effort, so Gadapa is built to close that gap with shared visibility — not to keep score.

Is Gadapa private?

There is no account and no sign-up, and if you use Gadapa on your own nothing you write leaves your device. If you later choose to invite family into a circle, the app asks you first and tells you exactly what will be shared. Voice notes and photos stay on the device that recorded them. There is no advertising and nothing is ever sold or shared.

Is Gadapa a medical app?

No. Gadapa is a personal record-keeping app for families. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition, and it does not give medical advice. It has no drug database and does no interaction checking — it stores what you type and reminds you of it. Reminders are a convenience and should not be your only way of managing medication. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional.
