What is Abyssal?

Abyssal is a one-finger, endless-descent arcade game about diving into the deep and discovering what lies at the bottom. Sink through six hand-crafted ocean biomes — from the sunlit shallows down through the midnight and hadal zones to something that should not exist in the deepest dark. The further you go, the faster you fall and the stranger the water becomes.

Manage three things at once: oxygen, health, and light. Collect bubbles to breathe, dodge sixteen bespoke sea creatures, and gather Lumens to permanently upgrade your diver. At 10 km the ocean turns sideways — your device rotates to landscape for a tense trench swim, then the descent begins again in an endless loop.

Abyssal is atmospheric, relaxing and tense in equal measure. It plays fully offline, and its monetization is strictly cosmetic — diver suits and trails only. There is no pay-to-win: every gameplay upgrade is earned by playing.

Questions & answers

Abyssal: common questions

Is Abyssal a good game?

Abyssal is an atmospheric one-finger deep-sea descent game built for pick-up-and-play sessions that stay tense and beautiful. It combines simple controls with real depth: six distinct ocean biomes, sixteen unique creatures, resource management (oxygen, health, light), permanent upgrades, daily challenges, and a mid-run twist where the screen rotates to landscape for a trench swim. If you like atmospheric, score-chase arcade games with a sense of mystery, it is made for you.

Is Abyssal pay-to-win?

No. Abyssal is strictly cosmetics-only. The soft currency used for gameplay upgrades (Lumens) is earned by playing and is never sold. Real-money purchases unlock diver suits, trails, and cosmetic passes only — they give no gameplay advantage. There is an optional rewarded ad to revive mid-dive, but it is never required.

Is Abyssal safe for kids?

Abyssal is rated Everyone 10+ on Google Play. It has no violence or gore — just mild fantasy peril in a deep-sea setting — and no accounts, no chat, and no personal data collection. It does show ads via Google AdMob, configured for general audiences and not child-directed, and in the EEA/UK a consent prompt appears before any personalised ads. Parents can also remove ads via a one-time purchase.

Does Abyssal work offline?

Yes. The full game plays offline and your progress is saved locally on your device — no account or login is required. An internet connection is only used to serve ads and process optional in-app purchases.

What kind of game is Abyssal?

Abyssal is an atmospheric endless-descent arcade / survival game. You dive with one finger through progressively deeper and darker ocean biomes, managing oxygen and health while dodging bioluminescent creatures and chasing a record depth — with a lore-rich mystery about what lies at the very bottom.
